WELCOME BACK!
Hope you had a fantastic winter break and are ready for the spring term. The school ended rather
abruptly last term due to the good old (or should we say new?)
British weather. We did contact every
parent to let them know that the school would be closed so if you have changed your details please
make sure that you let the school know. In fact you can e-mail us at
admin@islamia.brent.sch.uk.

One of the wonderful things that we did last term was Year 6B’s link visits with the
North West London Jewish School.
The idea behind the project was to break down stereotypes and to create greater
understanding of other communities. It was organised by the
Three Faiths Forum.
The visits were a success with both classes learning about the Hajj and Chanukah and then taking part
in joint Literacy and Numeracy lessons. We’d like to thank the amazing Valerie Davies from the forum,
the head teacher Rabbi Kerbel and the Year 6 teacher Judith Caplan as well as all the children involved.
The good will, passion and commitment you all showed is inspirational.
Read the comments of the children from the
first visit here
and the second visit here.
Displays; don’t we love them? Check out our latest on the
Hajj and Culture here.
Speaking of Hajj, a big WELL DONE to the winners of the Hajj art competition:
Abdul Hameed Neiroukh (1B), Iman Mirza (3B) and Nusaybah Abdur Rahman (5A).
At Islamia School we always promote the best behaviour from our children and to do so we have a code of
conduct in place. In our efforts to bring our children up collectively please try and promote the conduct
with your child.

Snow Closures
If school is closed due to extenuating circumstances we will let parents know by
text, Insha'Allah.
If you did not receive a text regarding the recent snow closures then it probably means
that we do not have your current mobile number. If your number has changed recently please
could you inform the office so we can update
the texting service.
This colourful school snowman was made by Mohamed A from Reception who
braved the weather with his dad.

Wrap up warm its cold out there!
Sports week was a blast.
Quick thinking, team building, combined with physical training
were the order of the day. Outdoor adventures, archery, multi skills workshops and yoga
to name a few were all experienced by the children. Thank you to our wonderful sports
co-ordinator Teacher Lamees, marvellous Mick Mcdonell, amazing Amanda Ling, magical
Marc Andrews and quick fire Colin Oakley!
Year 4b are piloting a new web based resource virtual classroom.
So far children have been able to learn about their topic in science, e-mail each other,
and have classroom discussions; all online.
Please remember that Hajj week is coming up. The curriculum will be topic based,
encourage your kids to have a go at the art competition (see below) and they may win the
mystery prize (oooooh!)
Thank you to all the parents and children who made shoebox gifts to send to children
in Africa. We had a lot of wonderfully decorated boxes to deliver. May Allah repay your
kindness tenfold.
We have our Hajj break which will begin on the 23rd of November. For those of you who
are off to Hajj, remember us in your duas, and may Allah grant you a safe journey and
an accepted Hajj.

Salams and Welcome!
We are now in full swing of the Autumn term and Islamia is buzzing with excitement.
A special marhaba to all of our reception children who are now part of the Islamia
family! We hope that this will be the start of a beautiful journey.
So what’s new with Islamia?
Reception has been refurbished with a new outdoor area. In our drive to improve ICT at
Islamia the Year 6 children have been given 26 laptops to use in school. We also are in the
process of renewing our courtyard. The masjid has been
given new carpets and a brand new colour scheme.
Our latest newsletter was given out, please click here if you missed it.
Please remember that our half term will start on Monday the 23rd of November,
to coincide with Hajj.
Finally thank you to all of our parents (and to those of our neighbours, Salusbury Primary)
who donated their children’s shoes for the Africa shoe aid appeal.
Insha'Allah, the canteen will reopen on Monday 19th October.
