NEW!

Where were you?!

The question is...if you weren’t there, then where were you?!

Cultural Evening was mashallah brilliant! With your help we managed to raise £400 for the new build. Thank you to all our parents who attended.

Amidst nervous children, panicked teachers, proud parents and ahem...screaming babies we managed to get through two memorable plays and a few soulful nasheeds. The Shaykh of Oz went down a storm, - dancing skeletons, a wicked witch, a plot twist and with Dr Who thrown in – where can you go wrong? - a big well done to all the star performances from Taymia, Shama, Muhammad Sofian, and Muhammad & Ahmad Adam as well as all those who took part.

The Just King, a play performed in Arabic was a timely reminder not only because of the depth of its message – a Christian King who gives refuge to Muslims – but also in understanding the way in which the Prophet, peace and blessings upon him, would bring out the best in people. Thank you to all the performances of the children and the hard work of the Arabic staff.

The linking project which Year 6B began came to an end recently. The experience has been truly life changing. As both Jewish and Muslim children played a game of rounders in Queens Park; joggers, passers by and strolling mothers, had to look twice at the image of the spectacle. The project ended with a presentation at Christchurch primary school – thank you Ms. Methuen for the use of the school– where the children and organisers shared their thoughts and feelings about the whole experience. Again; a big thank you to Rabbi Kerbel, Judith, Valerie and Catherine as well as all those wonderful children from North West London Jewish School.

Almost there!

Thank you to all the parents who turned up to support their lil'uns for Sports Day, football, 100m, hoop and multi tasks were just some of the activities the children took part in. Well done to Zinedine's dad who won the father's race, Teacher Catherine who won the teacher's race, and Serge who won the men's teacher's race (much to the protest of Teacher Muzammil whose shoe flew off half way down the track).

Cultural Evening is this Friday, with a start time of 6.00pm. Nasheeds, the Shaykh of Oz and a play in Arabic by our exiting year 6 are all in the line up. Tickets will be available on the evening, and all funds will be going to the new build.

Goodbye

Alas all good things...The school had to say a very emotional goodbye to our wonderful Teacher Samia, who has been with the school for thirteen years. Teacher Samia has been a source of guidance for children and a blessing for the teachers. Throughout the ups and downs that is part and package of teaching her unchanging smile is something that we'll all remember. Allah be with you Teacher Samia, we pray for you and your family.

Funday, Fund Raising and Fun!

Mashallah, Islamia Funday was a phenomenal success. Thanks to the amazing team that we had from our parents group – the tireless Zubia, amazing Analisa, the good Dr Mirza, and our chair Munir, (who does a mean barbeque) – the event had more than 5000 people attending and raised more than £10,000, alhumdulillah! Money which will go towards the £1.2 million we need to raise for the new school building.

On the topic of fund raising children in Year 6 have been busy trying to raise as much money for the school, cake sales, competitions, and even a fashion show. We’ll let you know how they do towards the end of the year.

Children, parents, and teachers all had consultation session with those clever architects discussing how they would like certain areas to be used. Ideas for a new playground, reflection areas, outside work areas and courtyards were all being discussed.

Legoland, Chessington and Paradise Park were some of the places that our children went to recently to celebrate the end of the year.

In continuing our project, Year 6B have visited the North West London Jewish School to watch their fantastic end of year musical. It was a great success. They also took part in the Brent rounders competition, playing against nine other school. The result wasn’t what they hoped, but... there’s always next year.

In the meantime please keep our kids cool in the summer, and remember us in your prayers.

Islamia Celebrates the coming of the Prophet of Mercy to the world:

Al-Anbiya 21:107 in Arabic
“And We have not sent you, except as a mercy for all creatures. ”
Al-Anbiya 21:107

Masjid an-Nabi

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Indeed, I am only a gift of mercy.”

Our Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to a people who were lost and confused and were taken over by their desires and egos. The same could be said about the people of our time where we can see that some of the evils from that time are coming back again. Such as the abuse of children, the oppression of men, the worship of material goods etc.

WELCOME BACK!

Hope you had a fantastic winter break and are ready for the spring term. The school ended rather abruptly last term due to the good old (or should we say new?) British weather. We did contact every parent to let them know that the school would be closed so if you have changed your details please make sure that you let the school know. In fact you can e-mail us at admin@islamia.brent.sch.uk. Star of David

One of the wonderful things that we did last term was Year 6B’s link visits with the North West London Jewish School. The idea behind the project was to break down stereotypes and to create greater understanding of other communities. It was organised by the Three Faiths Forum. The visits were a success with both classes learning about the Hajj and Chanukah and then taking part in joint Literacy and Numeracy lessons. We’d like to thank the amazing Valerie Davies from the forum, the head teacher Rabbi Kerbel and the Year 6 teacher Judith Caplan as well as all the children involved. The good will, passion and commitment you all showed is inspirational. Read the comments of the children from the first visit here and the second visit here.

Hajj Display

Displays; don’t we love them? Check out our latest on the Hajj and Culture here.
Speaking of Hajj, a big WELL DONE to the winners of the Hajj art competition: Abdul Hameed Neiroukh (1B), Iman Mirza (3B) and Nusaybah Abdur Rahman (5A).

At Islamia School we always promote the best behaviour from our children and to do so we have a code of conduct in place. In our efforts to bring our children up collectively please try and promote the conduct with your child.
