School Meals
Healthy Eating Policy
Islamia Primary School employs a Healthy Eating Policy as a means of ensuring a
healthy body and mind for everyone in our school. We try to make sure that children
are not only equipped with stationary and lessons for their learning but food and
drink that promotes growth, activity and general wellbeing. This is totally in
keeping with the school’s ethos of adhering to the Qur'an and Sunnah.
Allah (swt) has taught us:
“O you who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided
you with, and give thanks to Allah if Him it is that you serve.” (Al-Baqarah, ayah 172).
Snacks
Snacks or meals provided by the school are healthy and nutritious. Also, the school policy
does not permit junk food such as chocolates and crisps for play or lunch time snacks.
Free Fruit and Milk
All key stage 1 children are provided with a portion of fruit or vegetable every day.
The photograph shows: bananas, apples, tangerines and carrots.
The children also receive: baby mange tout, pear, baby cucumbers and tomatoes.
Additionally, reception children receive a free carton of milk each day.
Break Time Snacks
We encourage children to bring a break time snack to be eaten during playtimes.
A small snack can help children who feel hungry in between lessons. Chocolates and
crisps and other junk foods are not allowed as part of our school policy.

Lunch Time
For lunch a child can either bring a packed lunch from home or have a hot meal from
the school canteen.
Packed lunch
For packed lunch it is recommended that your child brings a meal that will prepare
them for the second half a day of learning. A suggestion for a well rounded lunch is a
sandwich or, for example, a small pot of pasta, a piece of fruit and a drink.
In addition, a healthy sweet snack can also be included.
