Information Communication Technology is part of our every day life’s,
from using our mobile phones to booking a flight on the internet.
In Islamia we recognise the benefit of ICT as tool that can develop learning.
ICT is embedded in almost all our lessons from using the Interactive Whiteboard
to cameras for various projects or even reception class using the much loved ‘beebot’.
Some classes have also used ICT to create some excellent Assembly’s .
Children have specific ICT lessons once a week to use the ICT room to develop ICT skills.
These skills include general usage of the computer to data logging, using the
Internet, emailing, modeling, spreadsheets, power -point presentations etc.
Islamia have recently joined Fronter. Fronter is a new safe learning platform which
allows children to access their learning everywhere simply by using the internet.
Each child will have their own log and password. Just like in a school, each child will
have access to their classroom. This opens the door to a wide range of excellent learning
opportunities and all in a completely safe and secure environment. Year 4b has piloted
this new learning platform and have found it to be successful. Therefore, we are slowly
phasing it in through the school: one class at a time.
If your child's class hasn't started using fronter then don't worry.
Insha'Allah, I will be explaining 'fronter' in more detail as it becomes a bigger part
of the teching process.
As children become more confident in using computers and various website, the need to be safe
and aware of the dangers of using the internet becomes essential in this day and age.
We would encourage you to talk to your children about the different websites they use
and not to let children use computers without monitoring what they are doing from time
to time. In Islamia we encourage the children to be safe on the internet with some simple rules.
