PSA
As salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu
We would like to welcome you the first issue of PSA Islamia’s Newsletter. We would like to
take this opportunity to thank all returning parents to the school for their continuous help
and support and would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new parents to the
school. Insha’Allah we hope that this year will be a successful one for both the PSA and the
school.
The aims of the PSA
The Parent Staff Association at Islamia School originated in January 2008 with the aim to bring
together the Staff and parents to organise a wide variety of events, both social and fund-raising
to make a valuable contribution to the life of the school. All Parents and Staff are automatically
members of the PSA and can get involved even if they only have a small amount of time available.
At PSA Islamia we:
- Raise funds to help the school provide “extras” for the pupils.
- Run social events for parents and children.
- Provide support for school trips and outings.
- Organise meetings to inform parents about education issues
- Raise funds for charities.

Review of 2008/2009
We were able to achieve many things within the last school year, all of which were only
possible with the help of a dedicated team of staff and parents. In the last school year
we held the following successful events:
- Eid parties at school for the children
- Spring and Science Fair
- Ice skating and Eid Bazaar (open to the public)
- Book Fair
- Ladies Pampering evening (in conjunction with Islamia Girl’s School)
- Auctions
- International Food Fair
- Sponsored Skip
- trips in holidays
- Summer Fair in Queen’s Park (open to the public)
- As well as numerous cake sales and informative coffee mornings.
The money raised from these events went, not just to benefit the school with small
sports equipment, wet play time games, Islamic books and funding towards the Social
skills club but, with your help we were able to send a parent with the Viva Palestina
Convoy to Gaza to support an orphanage there. As well as sponsor another parent to
climb Mount Kilimanjaro, which also raised thousands of pounds towards charity.
For all of this we would like to Thank you, Jazak’Allah khair for
taking the time to help support the school.
