PSA Roles
Roles within the PSA

To organize and co-ordinate these events the PSA not only needs support of all parents and staff but also need a committee to help run things smoothly. With the departure of our first Chairman, Dr Ibrahim King, we will be opening all roles on the committee for new elections. The committee roles are as follows:

Role: Chairperson
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare an agenda for, and reside over, all meetings of the PSA.
  • Co-ordinate the work of all committee and general members
  • Chair the Constitution Review Committee.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the nominating and voting process on behalf of the general membership.
Role: Secretary
Key Responsibilities:
  • Keep accurate records of the minutes of all meetings.
  • Perform duties relevant to the correspondence for the PSA committee members and communicate with the general membership.
  • Maintain the files of all PSA committee activities.
  • Notify committee members of upcoming meetings.
Role: Treasurer
Key Responsibilities:
  • Keep a full and accurate account of Income and Expenditures.
  • Make disbursements in accordance with the decisions of PSA.
  • Attend and be responsibly for any and all financial work related to PSA sponsored fundraisers including obtaining start-up funds; depositing of monies received and timely payments/ reimbursements of all obligations.
  • Present a monthly financial report to all committee members.
  • Present duly audited or independently examined, for approval by the general members at the First General Meeting.
  • Present a general written statement in the PSA Newsletter annually.
Role: Events Organiser
Key Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for organising fundraising events agreed by PSA.
  • Prioritise requirements for organising an event.
  • Develop logistic plan for performing an event.
  • Discuss Event Organisation logistics and requirements at PSA meetings.
  • Be responsible for recruiting volunteers to assist in holding events.
  • Liaise to assist with advertising and promotion of events.
  • Publish a list of PSA upcoming events.
Role: Fundraising Co-ordinator
Key Responsibilities:
  • Organise meetings with parents, staff and PSA to discuss fundraising strategies.
  • Liaise with PSA members to prioritise fundraising projects.
  • Be responsible for identifying candidate projects for fundraising.
  • Discuss fundraising project requirements at PSA meetings.
  • Establish fundraising performance targets for the year agreed by PSA.
  • Track fundraising performance according to targets.
  • Report to PSA on fundraising performance.
  • Be responsible for recruitment of volunteers for sub-committee.
Role: Newsletter Editor
Key Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for gathering, inputting, laying out and editing copy.
  • Recruit advertising editors and others to assist with the distribution and writing as and when necessary.
  • Publish a list of PSA Newsletter deadlines for the year.
  • Content of the PSA Newsletter will be approved by the Chairperson.
  • Be responsible for recruitment of volunteers for sub-committee.
Role: Key Stage 1 Representative (KS1-Rep) and Key Stage 2 Representative (KS2-rep)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for liaising between KS1/KS2 class staff, parents, and the PSA.
  • First point of contact for all KS1/KS2 class staff and parents for any issues relating to PSA.
  • Gain insight onto the specific activities and needs of all KS1/KS2 classes.
  • Recruit parents from each KS/KS2 class to assist with identifying needs.
  • Be responsible for recruitment of volunteers for sub-committee.
  • Attend PSA general meetings.
  • Discuss KS1-Rep/ KS2-rep activities at general meetings of PSA.
  • Notify committee members of KS1/KS2 related issues.

There are also the roles of the deputies: deputy chairperson, deputy treasurer, deputy event organiser, deputy fundraising co-ordinator and deputy newsletter editor.

All of the above positions will be open for nominations.


Nominations

All parents and staff now have the opportunity to nominate themselves for positions in the PSA Committee, as listed above.

If you are interested in any positions please send nominations to psa.islamia@yahoo.co.uk or give them in at the office, please include a written paragraph on nominee suitability.

THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS WEDNESDAY 11th NOVEMBER.

A Final list of nominees will be sent to all parents on the 13th November.
All Parents and Staff will then have the opportunity to vote in the elections which will be held at the AGM- Annual General Meeting.
